CIBO isn’t just a place where people go to have a glass of wine and a pizza. We are actively involved in our community and, like a good neighbour, we try to make positive contributions wherever possible.

We have partnerships with several organizations doing great work in Calgary. Over the past six years we have volunteered over 2000 hours and raised over $50,000 to support the following initiatives and more:

Toast for Charity

Over the holiday season, Cibo, Bonterra and Posto create a delicious seasonal cocktail that donates $3 from each one sold to The Alex Community Health Centre. The Alex is changing how we look at health care in Calgary. Our health, housing and food programs support our most vulnerable neighbours, tackling tough health and social issues head-on. See what they are all about at: www.thealex.ca

Meals on Wheels

Cibo is a proud participant in the annual Pizza Week festival where proceeds from each pizza sold is donated to Meals on Wheels. In 2017 we started our own Creative Restaurants Pizza Challenge, where chef’s from each of our companies participates to earn bragging rights for that years creations. Last year each chef joined us at Cibo in a cook off, guests ordered the best sounding pizza’s which cast a vote, 100% of the proceeds from the winning pizza was also donated to Meals on Wheels.

The Alex Community Food Centre

Once a month, our team members volunteer with the community food centre’s ‘Drop-in Community Lunch’, where they cook up a delicious lunch and serve the guests that drop-in that day. We also collaborated with Local Laundry in 2017/2018 to design a shirt where proceeds from sales goes towards The Alex, we also encourage our staff to donate funds from every uniform purchased throughout the year.

The Alex Community Food Centre (CFC) is a welcoming place for people to come together to grow, cook, share and advocate for good food for all. The CFC provides people with access to high-quality food in a dignified setting through healthy meals and an affordable produce market. People learn cooking and gardening skills, and kids get their hands dirty in the garden and kitchen in ways that expand their tastebuds and help them make healthier food choices.

We’ve Reached our Last Straw

As of January 2018, Cibo locations became officially straw free in an effort to be more environmentally sustainable. Over 500,000,000 plastic straws are produced every day only to be used for a couple of minutes, we have stopped automatically serving them in all of our drinks in hopes of helping the elimination of them ending up in our oceans.

Restaurants for Change

Restaurants for Change is an annual event that happens in October, which raises money for Community Food Centres Canada. Restaurants in 19 cities across Canada donate proceeds from dinner sales to support community food programs like The Alex in Calgary. We’ve joined this cause because we believe in supporting good food systems and recognize the importance of healthy, high-quality food for all Canadians.

Creative Restaurants Group donates 100 per cent of their food sales from that evening to Restaurants for Change. Please join us every year so we can pack the house and raise as much support as possible for this important cause.

Creative Cares

Our restaurants will pick a different charity each quarter of the year to support, so if you have a charity that you are passionate about please talk to a manager at one of our locations to be considered.

From January to June of 2018 proceeds from every Community Dish on our menus throughout our Creative Restaurants Group, will be donated to one of our great staff members initiatives to Conquer the Enbridge Ride for Cancer. Paula will be riding 200 kilometres over two days along the beautiful Canadian Rockies, all her funds raised will go directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Look for the logo of a person holding a bike in the air to know what each restaurants community dish is for this quarter.
